Harvest Our Calling

How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. —Hebrews 9:14 ESV

It is interesting how Jesus didn’t return to the Holy places on earth after His death. Jesus went to heavenly places and lives in His predestined location that His Father prepared for Him. When we invite Jesus into our hearts we are not calling for Him to live in something made of this world. We are calling Him to live within us; which is a place God made for His purpose. We have been chosen by the Creator and when we receive Christ, we are recognizing that purpose in which was predestined for us. We were dead before Him but after Him we are alive. I think about what God must see when He looks upon His creation. I can’t help but wonder if it looks like millions of lamps below and each day, some turn on and some fade off. See when we get frustrated with what God has for us and turn from His glory our lamps start to fade. This is much worse than to have never had the light turned on. It would have been better to have never known Him than to lose Him through our perceptions of what glory in Christ looks like for us. When we choose to have Christ come into our life, God gifts us with something we can never change. Before we were free in our sin and life was our life and no one else’s. After Christ, God places His laws in our hearts and writes them on our minds. Now when we return to sin we have conviction were before we hadn’t felt remorse for our actions. God calls us to serve, not be served. It’s easy to chase the dream of creating our own heaven through earthly things. But we are the Children of a living God, who called us to greatness through His son. We are worth much more than what our minds can perceive to be great. Gods thoughts are limitless, we create limits so we feel safe. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. We are called to be servants and in return He gives us a kingdom.

Then I said, “Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.” -Hebrews 10:7 ESV
