How often do we fall short of what God has gifted us due to a lack of faith? Over and over, we read about the miracles of faith in the Bible, but again and again we give life to doubt from the king of lies.
Do you ever wonder why this happens? Even though we walk with the Lord and we are devoted to His word. Our faith is strong when it comes out of the mouth, but when adversity strikes our mustard seed falls apart. So much potential can grow from such a minuscule thought but when hardships and pain come about that test our faith, we give into doubt and the seeds of our fears are planted. The very thing or thought that scared us into disbelief is now a reality because we gave birth to our own doubt.
We place earthly limitations of what the Father had in mind for us. He is not of this world so we cannot limit Him to the limitations of our planet. God gave Abraham a promised son, Isaac. Through faith Abraham’s dream came true but he was tested by fire. Even though God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham continued to believe in Gods promise. “God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son” And as Abraham bound his one and only son and pulled the knife in faith of his God and the promise that was given unto him. Just before the act he was halted by an angel of the Lord which called to him. “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to harm him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” After his test in faith, God provided a ram to sacrifice, instead of the promised son.
We cannot expect to move mountains or wither the fig tree that doesn’t bear fruit without a trial. Jesus said” For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” At times we think that Jesus had it easy when it came to words like these, because He was God among us. But let us not forget, before His ministry He was test by fire and the devil Himself in the wilderness.
But most of all He humbled himself before man, and put himself in the same shell that is gifted to us by the Father through earthly birth. So how can we expect to snap our fingers and through our faith mountains are moved? The test is apart of faith just as the belief itself. That is why we must read and believe what is taught to us through the Bible.
Oh what an overlooked gift from the God of the universe. How underestimated the wisdom of the Book of all generations. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” -IAM
