Why do we put on the full armor of God and still loose ground to the devil?

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:10-18

Why would God tell us to put on His Armor daily? Why do we underestimate what this means? Have you ever tied your shoe lackadaisically; just to have it come un-tied over and over again. Then why when we pray to place on the full Armor of God is it also lackadaisical? Then if we receive a devastating blow, why do we cry out and ask God “why weren’t you here?” “Why didn’t you do this or that?”

For many years I prayed, “Lord cover me in your full Armor of God” and onward to the next subject; I prayed never truly understanding what I asked. Just another thing I should say because I learned about it as a child. But then we read that it covers us from flaming arrows of the devil and It make us the victor of the day in hard battle.

That cosmic powers of a dark realm in Heavenly places is the battle ground, this in itself, tends to change our perception. Because we carry ourselves like we are going into war; our strength and confidence is there to enable us to stand firm! So everyday we must pull the leather straps a little tighter in the word of prayer and feel the weight of God’s Armor. We can do this in confidence because we know that we are his. We feel the weight because it is ours to bear. Because today we are going into battle for the Kingdom and we are putting ourselves in uncomfortable positions. We are leaning over to the lonely and giving them the love of Christ.

Yes, it at times, we will get cursed at or mocked or even laughed at. We can also see the deflection of our Armor but they cannot. We can feel the strike but also we feel Gods protection. The more persecution received the more love from a graceful Father flows down upon us. It is unknown to them who gives us strength but we know it is He who made them as well. Knowing this allows for the confidence that we can reach those who hurt us the most.

Battle is tough and hard but so is the road we are to walk in Christ.  “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”-IAM
